Applications

Specialty tube sheets where a genuine structural strength requirement exists beyond what commercially pure Grade 2 provides — high-pressure seawater service with unusually demanding mechanical loading, or applications where minimizing thickness for weight is critical enough to justify the strength premium.

Yes — Grade 5's alloying makes it more sensitive to welding parameters and generally results in lower ductility in the weld zone compared to Grade 2's straightforward weldability. Both still require the same inert gas shielding discipline as any titanium welding.
