Questions about choosing a grade

Start with your fluid service on both sides of the tube sheet and the operating temperature — those two facts narrow the field fast. The Materials pillar walks through the selection logic by environment, or send your service details directly and our engineering team will confirm the grade.

A family (like Stainless Steel or Hastelloy) is a group of alloys sharing a base chemistry; a grade (like SS316L or Hastelloy C276) is a specific standardized composition within that family. Materials pages describe the family-level trade-offs; grade pages give the exact datasheet.

Yes — the Material Comparison Tool puts any two grades side by side with real composition and mechanical data pulled from these same datasheets.

Not Listed, or Not Sure?
